On Monday, November 16, 2020 Lillian Ross of Drayton Valley passed away at the age of 89 years.
Lily leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Lonnie (Sally) and Erin (Pam); grandchildren: Heidi, Cody, and Tricia, James, Troy, Michael and Jerett; great-grandchildren: Summer, Levi, Hannah, Evander, Lucas, Ryder, Piper, Axel, Parker, Colby, Mia, Nathan, Abby, Ciara and Aiden; brother David (Hilda) MacIntosh; sister Reta Sandwith; brother-in-law Raymond; sisters-in-law: Pearl and Helen; nieces: Shirley, Jo-Anne, Sandy, Judy C, Jeanne, Judy S., Kathleen, Judy A, Jean, Leta, Mavis, Iris, Delaina, Judy K, Janis, Joan, Betty, Lois, Marjory, Charlotte, Karen, Shelley, Pat, Kathy, Phyllis, Dawn, Wendy, Corrie, Lorrie, Amber, and Michelle; nephews: Donny, Ian, Dale, Rod, Murray, Glen, James, Danny, Neil, Chuck, Denny, Garry, Bill, John, Earl, Jim, Ken, Tom, Colin, Raymond, Russell, Kelly, Randy and Jeff, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and countless treasured friends.
Lily was predeceased by her parents Sarah (Sadie) and Donald MacIntosh, husband Reg (2010) and infant son Kim (1955); brothers: John, Richard, Bill, Ewen, Lawrence and Murdy; sisters: Eva, Mary, Edith, Dona, Gladys and Katie, four nieces and five nephews.
Lily was an educator and taught in several schools from Whitecourt to Drayton Valley. She was a founding member of the Oil Wives Club of Drayton Valley, a dedicated member of the United Church and its Choir, served on the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Royal Purple and Rotary Club. Recently, she shared her writing talents and knowledge with “The Write Stuff” at the Drayton Valley Library.
Lily shared her musical talents freely, with her band “The Hinge” as well as all the bands she played in with Reg over many decades. She recorded two vinyl records as The Family Circle and several recordings with The Hinge. For many years, the community regularly enjoyed shows performed by the Drayton Valley Entertainers, a large group of talented members, led by Lily.
Lily was a prolific author (eight historical novels) and family historian.
A Private Service celebrating Lily’s life will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Tinant Funeral Chapel. The service will be live streamed. Check Drayton Valley Funeral Services website for the link.
