MICHAEL PETER HORODYNSKI
February 7, 1956 – April 3, 2020
It is with sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Michael at the age of 64 years.
Michael was born in Edmonton with many health issues and was not expected to survive. His mental development never exceeded that of a 2-3 year old, however his parents, Peter and Olive Horodynski nursed him, protected him and loved him. They dedicated their lives to him until their illnesses and subsequent deaths prevented them from doing so. In 2000, at their request, we brought him to Drayton Valley to make his home with us, his cousin Eddie and Iona Hutzal.
Michael became a huge part of our family’s lives and has left us with so many precious memories. His absence left a huge hole in our hearts when three and a half years ago we had to move him to the Pembina Village in Evansburg because of his advanced dementia. He was lovingly cared for by Dr. Murphy, Nurse Marilyn and all of the Staff for which we are so thankful.
Over the years he was blessed with caretakers for whom we will be forever grateful. The long term ones, Juanita Block (RIP) and his Angels whom we appreciated so much. Jeanlyn Brown and all her family and Joy Eugenio will forever be endearing to us for the caring and love they gave Michael for so many years.
Besides his friends, (and those he entertained with his accordian playing) our extended family and the St. Anthony’s Parish Community who embraced him as one of the church family, he will be fondly remembered by his guardians Eddie and Iona Hutzal and their children Joey (Angie) Hutzal, Janaia Hutzal, Carla (Eric) Schneider, Kareen (Kirk) Nelson. They, as well as our 14 grandchildren were such an integral part of Michael’s life and shared their love and lives with him. He also leaves behind his cousins and their families, Edwin Hutzal, Ron (Delores) Hutzal, Janet (Russ) Dymtrk, Jerry (Karen) Hutzal, Don (Sharon) Hutzal, Lorraine (Ken) Fluet and Ken Hutzal.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Good Samaritan, Pembina Village, Evansburg, Alberta.
